Hikes are around 1 to 2.5 miles and end with a lunch somewhere in the area. You’re welcome to carpool or meet at the hiking spot. Lunch afterwards is something many do but some opt out of, your choice.
Be sure to bring water, wear appropriate clothing, sturdy footwear and bring bug spray and/or sunscreen. If it’s raining we will not hike.

| Tuesday May 26, 2026 Betty’s Loop 59 Long Point Road, Lakeville Conservation Park, Lakeville, MA To carpool: meet at 9:30 am at Walmart in Wareham. Park Near Starbucks to carpool Meet at site at 10 am. To access the Betty’s Neck Loop in Lakeville Conservation Park, take Long Point Road until you reach Betty’s Point Trail Road, which leads to the trailhead and public parking area. It’s a lovely hike through forests, fields, and meadows, with short detours providing access to the pond. Reviewers report it is one of their favorite hikes. It is reported that it is one of the few places in southeastern Massachusetts where bald eagles nest. The pond’s clean water supports vulnerable species of turtles, fish, and mussels. It is a 2.1 mile moderate loop. | Wednesday May 6, 2026 – Allen’s Pond South Dartmouth Carpool option 1: 9 am at Hines Park and Drive in Onset. Across from Trevors and the playground. Carpool option 2: 9:30 am at Mattapoisett Park and Drive. Across from Uncle Jon’s Coffee, Exit 31a off 195. Meet at the site at 10am To Sanctuary Entrance at Field Station: From Interstate 195, in Westport, take Exit 16 (Rt 88 South). Follow Route 88 through three lights to intersection with Hixbridge Rd at 4th light. Turn left onto Hixbridge Rd and proceed 1.8 miles to stop sign at Pine Hill Rd and Horseneck Rd. Turn right onto Horseneck Rd and proceed nearly to the ocean for 4.8 miles. Sanctuary parking is on your left just past Bayside Restaurant and adjacent to our Field Station at 1280 Horseneck Rd. This location is a beautiful hiking area with pond views for much of the hike. In addition to the the trail terrain there is a rock to sit on to watch beach waves, It is recommended that you wear sturdy boots or shoes as it is rooty and may be muddy. We will be crossing over rocks on a small stream so hiking sticks are helpful if you have them. |
| Tuesday, April 28, 2026 Daffodil Fields at Parsons Reserve, Dartmouth Meet at 9 am at the Mattapoisett Park and Drive (87 North Street) OR meet at 9:30 am at the Russells Mills Landing parking area at 50 Horseneck Road in Dartmouth. There is a steep uphill walk to reach the DAFFODIL fields and vernal pools. It is an amazing sight! Admission is by donation of $5 each. | Wednesday, April 15, 2026 The Knob, Woods Hole, Falmouth Meet at 9:30 am at the Hines Park and Drive in Onset OR meet at 10 am at 48 Quissett Harbor Road in Falmouth This is a one mile round trip walking trail with panoramic views of Quissett Harbor and Buzzards Bay. Sturdy shoes are recommended as there are exposed roots and rocks along the trail. IF hikers choose, we may venture over to Spohrs gardens as well as it is very close and very interesting. |
| Tuesday, March 31, 2026 Mattapoisett Bike Trail at 10 am Park in the lot that is accessed from Route 6 and Railroad Road. If the lot is full go down Depot street and park on Main Street. Then walk back down Depot Street to meet us at the entrance @ Depot and Railroad. The trail is a combo of asphalt and board walks. We will walk past beautiful vistas of the harbor and salt marshes. This walk could be 2 to 3 miles depending on the desires of those attending. | Wednesday, March 18, 2026 The Stone Estate at Great Hill at 10 am 214 Delano Road in Marion Park outside the iron gates at 214 Delano Road, Marion. The Stone family allows the public to walk on the paved roads past fields, water, large trees, pine groves and back onto Delano Road to complete the loop. It can be a 2 mile loop depending on conditions of the road. |

Drive to the end of Great Neck Road then turn right onto Short Cut Road. Park on the left. This is a favorite of the clubs. It is a 1.5 to 2 mile loop. |
| Tuesday, November 4, 2025 Nasketucket Bay State Reservation in Mattapoisett Meet in the Parking Lot of the Reservation at 10 am This trail is 2.4 miles in length. It is a small state owned property. The area includes fields. farmhouse ruins, salt marshes, forest trails and even a rocky beach. Directions : From Route 6 west Turn Left on Brandt Island Road. Follow Brandt Island Road turning left at the fork in the road. Curve right for Brandt Beach Road. Park on right in DRC parking lot. |
| Wednesday, October 22, 2025 The Stone Estate at Great Hill 214 Delano Road in Marion Please park and meet OUTSIDE the black iron gates at 10 am. This is a beautiful 2 mile loop. We will walk past fields, ocean vistas as we see Buzzards Bay and Wings Cove. As we make the loop through the estate back onto Delano Road the vegetation and terrain changes. We will be walking on paved surfaces as we walk through the estate and back onto Delano Road. | Tuesday, October 7, 2025 Ryder Conservation Area, Orange Trail 61, Cotuit Road, Sandwich , MA Meet at 9:30 am at Hynes Parking Area in Onset. 1.3 mile loop, popular trail for birding and wildlife. Emilie Ruecker Wildlife Refuge, Tiverton, RI

Adjacent to Weetamoo Woods and Pardon Gray Preserve the Loop Trail (1.1 miles) connects two old wagon roads. Giant boulders dot the oak forest landscape. The parking lot is located at approximately 2900 Main Road, near the intersection with Nanaquaket Road. Look for an orange and white entrance sign next to a large, unmarked garage, owned by the town of Tiverton.

The Hiking Club is changing things up in July with tours of private home gardens featured in the 11th Annual Cape Cod Hydrangea Festival. The festival runs from July 11 – 20 with ten days of workshops, lectures, demonstrations and private garden tours. Admission may vary, but plan on $5 per home. Proceeds are to support local nonprofits.

Sandwich Boardwalk, Sandwich

Hurricane Bob destroyed the boardwalk in October 1991. The town rebuilt the 1,350-foot boardwalk and it was re-opened in 2024. As you make your way to Town Beach you’ll be treated to beautiful views of marshland, wildlife and Cape Cod Bay.

The Knob, Woods Hole, Falmouth

This is a major attraction for the beautiful coastal bank views of Quissett Harbor and Buzzards Bay and for bird lovers. It will be less than a 1 mile hike. There is a small beach that should be seen from the Harbor Cliff Trail. Parking is limited on the side of the road at 36 Quissett Harbor Road.
Brandt Island Cove District, Mattapoisett Neck Road

Copicut Woods, Fall River

Upland forest and remnants of a vibrant agricultural past; a bioreserve to remember. It features a variety of natural communities, vernal pools, an abandoned farm settlement and a mile long miller lane, and a 150 year old stone wall-lined cart path. It also protects drinking water for 100,000 people. Parking area on Indian Town Road approx. 1.7 miles off of Blossom Road.
Lloyd Center, South Dartmouth

Lloyd Center sits on 82 acres of oak-hickory forest, freshwater wetlands, salt marshes and an estuary. The 7 trails offer views of Buzzards Bay, Demarest Lloyd State Park, Mishaum Point and the islands. Kettle holes, marines and a Native American midden site are features along the trails. Davis Douglas Conservations Area, Plymouth

This area comprises 6 ponds, a farm and conservation land. There are ample ponds and forests with miles of old cart paths and woodland trails. The forest has pitch pine/scrub oak barrens which rank among the most biologically significant areas on the eastern seaboard. Parking at Davis-Douglas Farm and Ship Pond Road.
