Lorraine (Jackie) Lindsey

August 6, 1948 – July 29, 2022

It is with an extremely heavy heart that we announce the passing of Lorraine Jacqueline (McDonough) Lindsey, “Jackie”, on Friday, July 29, 2022 at home with her family at her side.  Born in Boston, MA the daughter of the late Matthew and Florence (Logan) McDonough.

Jackie grew up in South Boston and graduated from the Gate of Heaven High School and later from The Bay State Academy for Business Administration. Lorraine’s career took her from Anthony’s Pier 4, a swim suit model for Catalina, The MIT Computer Center, Lindsey’s Restaurant, the Kennedy Studio on Martha’s Vineyard, Design Mark and Marian Heath Greeting Cards where her nickname “Jackie” was born.

She retired and dedicated her time to giving back to her community.  Jackie worked tirelessly for the Wareham Village Association / event coordinator for the Annual Swan Festival, Onset Bay Association, Onset / Wareham Fireworks Committee, The Polar Express, Cape Cod Canal Centennial Celebration, Wareham Garden Club. In 2011 she was named the Standard Times Woman of the Year.

She will be remembered for her infectious smile, compassionate spirit and her quick wit.  If it was a nice day, you knew where to find her.  With her toes in the sand, the sun on her face and surrounded by her “Beach Buddies” at her happy place, Shell Point.

Jackie joined the garden club in the late 1970’s; she was active on hospital and civic decorations, and the yearbook committee.  She loved to decorate live Christmas trees which the garden club raffled off.

Jackie was the loving mother of Kimberly J. (Lindsey) Lambert and her husband (Neil) of Mattapoisett. Sister in-law of Barbara McDonough of Dorchester aunt of Patrick McDonough of Weymouth and sister of the late Robert McDonough. Memorial gifts: www.cancer.org
