It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the sudden passing of Jerome “Jerry” Bradshaw Moles, of Wareham on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at the age of 62.

Born on November 13, 1958, in Middleboro, he was the son of the late Stanley A. & Eileen T. Moles. He graduated from Middleboro High School and received his associate’s degree from Massasoit Community College. Jerry then attended SEA Education Association in Woods Hole and Roger Williams University where he received his degree in marine biology.

Jerry went on to work for the Commonwealth of Mass. as an aquatic biologist for the Division of Marine Fisheries for 31 years. Retiring in 2015, Jerry pursued his avid appreciation of plant and flower design. He was a valued member of the Wareham Garden Club and was an accomplished, award-winning designer. Jerry also served in the Peace Corps from September of 1981 to November of 1983 in Papua New Guinea as a Marine Fisheries Extension Agent.

Jerry loved animals and helping others. He found great solace and peace at the beach and ocean.

He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted partner of 31 years, William V. Peckson of Wareham; his brothers, Andrew Moles of Sebring, FL and Denis Moles and his wife Eleanor of Canton, along with several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  He was predeceased by his brother, the late Stanley C. Moles and his sister, the late Eileen T. Moles.

Jerry enjoyed creating wonderful designs for our pop-up contests and for flower shows.  He was a very kind, gentle soul.  Here’s what he shared when I asked him for 5 things we might not know about him:  “I was a peace corps volunteer in Papua New guinea; have a degree in Marine biology; worked at Blithewold; love to cook; make botanical jewelry“.

Judy Morgan brought Jerry into the club.  Here are some reflections from her: Many years ago, I met Jerry Moles at his first and as he put it last yard sale. Jerry had all kinds of clay pots that caught my eye as I drove by on my way home. I stopped and bought them all and that’s when he showed me his beautiful yard and I told him all about the Wareham Garden Club and that I would love to have him on our garden tour. He said he always wanted to join but was hesitant because it was mostly women. After attending as my guest, he joined our club. He was always there for every project and event. He worked with me and Tom at the Depot Crossing for many years and recently joined the civic group around town. He also decided to go into Flower Show School, not to become a judge but to learn more about how to exhibit in a flower show and improve his skills of designing. He joined our flower show committee in Boston and exhibited in many of the local flower shows. He was retired and worked part-time with a Florist. He was working on a floral design when he passed and was doing what he loved. He will be greatly missed by us all.

From other members:

Sue Scipione: What a shock! I’m so sorry to hear this! He was a wonderful person!

Maria: I can’t believe this. He looked so energetic and healthy!  Such a nice man.

Donna:  , I am truly saddened by Jerry’s passing. He did so much for us in a quiet yet unassuming way. He helped me several times especially with the Civic Holiday Decorations. He ordered all the wreaths and poinsettias. He hung all the wreaths. When he delivered the poinsettias to Tobey, even though our contact at Tobey Hospital, Donna Kinsman, approved 20 poinsettias, they would only accept 10. They had accepted 10 from another source. This meant Jerry had to talk to Nessralla’s about taking them back. They were nice enough to do so without a restock fee. I could go on, but I’m sure so many will say the same.

Lesley:  , I am shocked and very saddened. His partner Bill must be devastated. I got to know him over time and found him to be a very kind soul. So very sorry.

Sue Melrose:  How very sad. He was a wonderful addition to the club.

Brenda:  , I can’t believe this. I saw Jerry yesterday morning at the bank and we were having a great conversation.

Pam:  I am so sad to hear this. Jerry was a good kind, man, always willing to help. We are going to miss him.
