March 2026
I don’t know about you all, but I am certainly sick of this winter. It’s refusing to give up, go away and allow us to get back into our gardens. Personally, after 5 days without power I don’t want to hear the word ‘snow’ or storm until 2027, at the earliest.
Thankfully, 3 of our members put on a wonderful workshop on winter planting, using recycled containers and cold tolerant seeds. We had approximately 30 participants and it was lovely to see the atmosphere of fun and enjoyment that was there, as both members of the club and a few members of the public busied themselves setting up a
winter seed ‘planter’, or 2 or 3…….
I can’t wait to see if my milk jug planting or my attempt at ‘snail’ planting will be a success. Another of our members put together a short video which you can see on our Facebook group. I’m sure you will have lots of questions for the organizers and attendees at our March meeting.
It was wonderful to be reminded that Spring is coming and imagining what plants we will be growing. Although by the time all this snow has melted I think I’ll be growing ‘bog plants’ in my garden as it is already very waterlogged and boggy. ‘Cranberry plants’ for the plant sale, perhaps??
I look forward to seeing you all at the March meeting and this is a perfect opportunity to bring a guest as they start to think about the long-awaited Spring. And don’t forget the March design workshop which Judy is hosting (details in the Members area of the website) as well as our summer outing.
Until then, please be careful, lots of ice still around
Regards,
Carmel
