Cutting your early summer blooms

By Joyce Holster

The big burst of summer flowers is at a high. My foxglove has begun to set seed and the daisies are turning brown. Now for the Gardeners big mid summer job. Cut those flowers. Don’t let them go to seed.

A flower’s main purpose in life is to multiply. When you cut them at peak you accomplish two things. Flowers for a vase and encouraging another flower, for seeds. You can keep flowers blooming much longer now. Remember, fresh water daily and no leaves in the water.
