Perennial Tip

from Joyce Holster

Lots of plants root in water. Why not try it to cultivate new plants?

  • Cut a 5” branch or stem, remove the leaves from the bottom, keeping 2-3 at the top
  • Put in water, changing frequently to avoid bacteria
  • Leave in a shady location, keeping the water level topped up

In 2-3 weeks you’ll have another plant.Plant it into a 6” pot when the roots are 2” and leave it in the shade until you can see lots of roots in the pot. Move it slowly to the sun once you can see the plant grow.

If you have ‘tough’ plant, use root one. It is a plant hormone that encourages roots. There are different strengths of rootone for small perennials up to shrubs and even trees.
