June Considerations

The first flush of spring bulbs has come and gone and is going fast now that it is warmer. Even the weather has been cooperating.

No doubt you’ve been eyeing tomato and pepper plants, but take a breath first and review how your spring bulbs looked and what you might want to do for next year.

Did you want a different daffodil that you maybe saw in someone else’s garden? Write it down now before you forget. Or choose a pleasant nondescript annual like impatiens and underplant with your new or relocated daffodil bulbs for next year, wherever you want to see more flowers.

This is definitely the year of the lupin. The ones in my backyard must be 3’ tall with blossoms rising above. I was surprised to find another the same color growing behind my mailbox. Thank you to whatever bird..


The irises are glorious this year. The earliest lavender iris smells like grapes to me. Each color smells differently from the others. Iris are quite prolific. They almost double in quantity annually. If anybody wants some, give me a call,
